How To Make A Sign

Attracting people to visit your business or property can be done if you make a sign. Sign making however becomes a challenge depending upon the quality. Here are a couple ideas for how to make a sign.

Basic Quality

If you're goal is to simply attract people to your property, start this project by buying a poster size sheet from a hobby shop. These sheets come in different colors. So, pick a color that will serve as your background. Usually the brighter the color the better. Next, purchase a template stencil. Or course, if your handwriting or drawing skills are excellent, you may do without getting a stencil. However, a stencil with letters about 4 inches tall should get you noticed from about 50 feet away. Then, stencil in the letters you want on the sheet and fill those letters in with a darker color, preferably black.

Better Quality

If you're sign is going to be used over and over again, purchase a laminated sheet. Next, locate some vinyl lettering. Letters are sold in different sizes. Again, 4 inch letters will do the job of being able to be read from a good distance.

As with all signs, remember that people recognize familiar shapes and sizes. If you're selling a home, use a white background with red letters. For different purposes a background image will help draw attention.

Make A Sign That Lights At Night

Here's an idea I came up with one evening. Purchase some solar powered yard lights. The ones used for lighting walkways.

Use a poster size paper and fold it in half, while getting the most area possible for your letters. Don't fold in half and get small area to work with.  Fold it half and know that you are going to place this site in a teepee style position. The folded area will be pointing up and the other two ends will rest on the ground. In a  ^ or like a rooftop.

Now in the area  you would normally use to draw letters on, instead of stenciling and coloring in letters, stencil then cut out the letters. If you want the letters to be shown on both sides of the sheet (remember it's been folded in half), then stencil and cut out letters on the other side as well.

Next, place two solar lights near the ends of each side and allow them to charge up during the day. In the evening the lights will light up automatically and you will then have a lighted sign that can be seen at night. Now your sign is working for you in the evening and it's 100% solar powered sign.

Make A Sign Online

If you are short on time, there is also an online sign building website that will shorten your work. Saving time might be important to you if the number of signs you need is more than one. To build a sign online I recommend a service I've used previously at Build A Sign.

They offer an online sign building wizard that let's build and preview what your signs will look like. The online tool is easy to understand and their services are actually very affordable.

Visit their site today and check them out.
