Here’s why people, like me, do believe that Christmas sucks. It’s November 29, 2011 and like many people I don’t have my Christmas shopping complete. Really, I don’t have the urge to fight for parking space and wander around the mall or walk through isles looking for gifts that I assume someone else will like. As I see it, my family already has plenty of gifts from previous Christmas holidays stored away or lost somewhere here in a closet or under a bed, that adding another item to the stuff they already have, is simply going to take up precious space from an already crowded home.

For me, Christmas already happens every month. There is always someone with a birthday or special event where gifts are handed out or good cheer is delivered. Why do I need to have a day designated for a day of giving, when I already do just that on a constant basis? Don’t get me wrong, I like all the Christmas decorations and the mood of sharing that comes along with this holiday. More people around this time seem to be in a better mood too, or at least pretend for a while that they can be.

Perhaps I’m just getting burned out of Christmas at this point, because Walmart and every other big department store began putting up Christmas holiday decorations back in October, even before Halloween. So, suconsciously I’ve been in the holiday spirit for three months now, and I’m just ready for New Years to get here so I can have a few shots of tequila.

So, for now I will likely go with the flow and do what Iv’e got to do to not spoil someone else’s parade. I’ll end up buying some gifts and prepare myself for recycling as much as I can the following day. Although, I know much of the packaging material that comes with each gift will go to the local dump and will have to decay over the next 5000 years, which will only then make me feel happy it has finally stopped posing an environmental danger. In addition, I think about the 95% or more products that will sold this holiday season which have been made in China, or some other country that will put one more nail into the coffin of some local person’s career.

Can I really claim to be satisfied and happy with the idea of Christmas this year? The economy is still stagnant, a lot of people can’t find jobs and the people in our government can’t account for trillions of dollars that have amazingly gone missing. But fortunately some aerospace company that builds figher jets and employees thousands of workers to build jets and war bombs is posting record profits for the shareholders. Quite nice too is that aerospace firm is exempt from paying taxes. But come December 31st of this year I’ll likely be hit with a $1500 tax increase because some millionaire politician doesn’t want to put in their fair and small share to pay for the missing money and more war bombs. Should I be forced to shop as if I’m happy and pretend that Santa Clause Inc. is going make all my worries go away? No, I think not. Sometimes Christmas really does suck.

Ok, fast forward to December 12th. I’ve got an idea. Fix it.
